Travelers often use this route to get to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park by car because it is one of the most commonly used routes by road. This Kampala-Kabale-Kanungu-Buhoma route has a tarmac highway till Kabale district that is about 5-6 hours of road drive, with the rest of the journey murram covering about 120kms only. This route is good in that it allows travelers a chance to see different communities as well as scenic views as they approach Kabale.
Kampala-Ntungamo-Rukunjiri-Kihihi-Buhoma Route
Getting to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park by road is another easy route to take since it is paved all the way to Rukunjiri. The road from Rukunjiri to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park can be reached by road.
Kampala-Kabale-Ruhija-Buhoma Route

Queen Elizabeth National Park-Kihihi-Buhoma
Those travelers who are on a Uganda safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park will be able to access Bwindi Impenetrable National Park via Ishasha or Kihihi, in particular the Buhoma sector, which is the closest to the park. This is a very rewarding route giving travelers a chance to spot tree climbing lions in the Ishasha sector. From queen Elizabeth National Park, Buhoma sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National park is about 4 hours of road drive.
Getting there by Air
In addition to taking long road transfers, travelers can also get to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park by air, especially if this is their first time visiting. Charter and scheduled flights from Entebbe International Airport or Kajjansi are available flying to Kihihi airstrip or Kisoro airstrip. Kihihi airstrip best serves travelers visiting the northern part of Bwindi Impenetrable National park while travelers visiting the southern part of Bwindi best use Kisoro airstrip.
Alternatively, travelers may choose to fly to Kigali International Airport Rwanda, where they can then transfer to the Park, specifically to the Rushaga sector, as this is the nearest sector from Rwanda.
