Guided Nature Walks in Semuliki National Park : Guided nature walk safari in Semuliki National Park is one of the best safari destinations where guided nature walk is much more enjoyed and this is because of its scenic nature and a gainful location to adventure the rare beautiful Sempaya hot springs as well as one of the top birding site to encounter endemic species in Uganda. However, Semuliki guided walk is more interesting when you experience it through visiting several different amazing trails where you expect to encounter range of wildlife species like primate’s species, mammal as well as notable bird species.

Semuliki National Park; Truly the park is a paradise for birders that harbors to more than 400 bird species and over 60 mammal species like water chevrotain, bush babies, hippos, African civet, African elephants, bush duikers, Mona monkeys, leopard, scaly-tailed flying squirrel among others. It is also a home to over 460 butterfly species and around eight primate species. Some of bird species to see includes; Yellow-throated Nicator, Red-rumped Tinker bird, the African piculet, Great blue and Ross’s Turacos, Crested Malimbe, Swamp Palm Bulbul, Iyre-tailed honeyguide, Oberlander’s ground thrush, Maxwell’s Black weaver, Sassi’s olive greenbul among others.

The park is perfect place to do the nature walk experience because of its green vegetation that is found at medium moist evergreen forest, which inhabits a wide range of tree species, swamp forest communities.

Guided nature walk in Semuliki National park can be done in several exciting trail heads as listed below ‘;

 Karuma trails; This is 13 kilometers passing through the middle of the forest towards River Semuliki and takes about 8 hours, starting at 8am. Kirumia trail starts just about 8 kilometers from the park headquarters in Ntindi.

This trail rewards much with various bird species and birder here usually follow this trails best for bird watching and butterfly watching, because it has a good forest canopy. Some of birds to sight see include; black and white casqued hornbill, yellow-throated nicator, Black-billed barbet, Abyssinian ground-hornbill, shoebill, piping hornbill, White-crested hornbill among others.

 Primate trail –Red tailed monkeys trail

This trail sound enjoyable with great view of primate species, which is just 11 kilometers Red tailed monkey track extends to the eastern border of the park.

The Red-tailed monkey trail begins from Sempaya hot springs site and extends into the forest thus giving you the provision to access the Semuliki river.

Along this trail, you will be able to see a number of forest and woodland birds, mammals like duikers, forest elephants, forest buffaloes and spotting other antelopes. Primates species to see include; red tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabey, baboons among others.

This trail has a stunning canopy however, it’s a tropical forest situated in the Congo basin and has lots of trees having with roots on the ground surfaces with breath taking air.

Sempaya Nature Trail

On this trails are 8kilometers that stuns with great view of Sempaya hot springs as well as primates. The hiking experience takes about 3hours starting from morning to afternoon. You can slope down to view the hot springs both hot springs male called ‘’Bamaga’’ formed as a swimming pool and female hot spring ‘’Nyansimbi’’ act as a boiling fountain jet where people can cook simple food like boiling eggs among others.

Both this amazing hot springs offers shades to the visitors on their visit to Uganda Safaris.

The trail to the male hot springs has a provision of a boardwalk which offers you a chance of viewing the Rwenzori mountain ranges and also offers a back ground view of Semuliki valley.

Batwa Cultural Trail

This trails extends near Ntandi park headquarters to the forest which leads you to the Batwa Cultural site. Along this trail you will be able to enjoy traditional ceremonial activities like circumcision, meetings, kingship among others.

Nyaburogo Gorge Hike

The Nyaburogo gorge at Semuliki National Park this walking trails starts right from the reserve headquarter which take a 7 kilometer hike that goes through the gorges like the savannah woodland and a forest within the gorge.

These trails are good for bird watchers and birds to see include; Bushrike, Luhdres Bushrike, Tropical Boubal, Black-headed, Arrow marked Babbler among others.
