As soon as you arrive at the Kigali airport, our company representative and your driver/guide will be waiting to greet you and take you to Volcanoes national park, the home of the endangered mountain gorillas.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking experience and Cultural Tour

After an early morning breakfast, you will be transferred to the park headquarters-Kinigi for a briefing about the endangered mountain gorillas.

Upon receiving your trekking gear, drinking water, and packed lunch from the driver, you will be dropped off at the starting point where you will be guided by the ranger guides on your gorilla trek.

Depending on the gorilla’s movement, this activity may take between one and eight hours. However, meeting them is an extremely rewarding experience, and you will spend a maximum of one hour studying them and taking photographs.

As soon as you have spent time with the fascinating mountain gorillas, return to the base and meet your driver to take you to your lodge for lunch and a brief rest.

Rwanda Cultural Tour

After lunch, take a cultural walk to Iby’iwachu Cultural Village-a Non-Profit umbrella organization that provides conservation incentives, supports community enterprise development and livelihood projects with the goal of improving the lives of reformed poachers and communities around Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park.

During your guided tour around the site, you will experience Kinyarwanda traditions, including the Intore dance, traditional ceremonies, and a guided community walk. Day 3: Stop over at Lake Kivu and transfer to Nyungwe national park

In the morning, after a leisurely breakfast at the lodge, take a trip to Lake Kivu and enjoy the early morning breeze on the shores. It is an hour’s drive to Rubavu from here.

After spending only an hour there, return to the road to drive 4-5 hours to Nyungwe national park, where you will have lunch en route.

A large and ancient rain forest in East Africa, the Nyungwe forest is the largest and oldest in the region. After arriving in the park in the late afternoon, you will connect to your lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight stay at Nyungwe Forest Lodge (luxury), Nyungwe Top View Hill Hotel (midrange), or Gisakura Guest House (budget).

Day 4: Chimpanzee tracking and afternoon canopy walk

Have breakfast and attend a briefing about the endangered chimpanzees in Nyungwe forest before entering the forest in search of the active and playful individuals.

In addition, the Chimpanzees are easier to spot as they jump from one tree to another, chattering and laughing as they go. Chimpanzee tracking usually takes about 3 hours. Once you have located them, take pictures and videos for an hour. You will then return to your accommodation for lunch.

After lunch, you will walk to the Canopy Walk, a 50 meter swing bridge suspended from large trees.

You will have the opportunity to see the amazing rain forest from a bird’s eye perspective, observing wildlife as it moves about. Before night fall, you will return to the lodge for dinner as above.

Day 5: Transfer to Kigali city and airport drop off

After breakfast, leave for Kigali city with a visit to Nyanza king’s palace and Rwanda national museum in Huye, as well as Murambi genocide museum en route.

After arriving in Kigali, visit the craft shops and the memorial to the victims of the Rwandan genocide. Have lunch and connect to the airport for your return flight to your next destination.

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Volcanoes national park,

Depending on your location, our driver guide will greet you on the first day of the 5 day Rwanda gorillas, golden monkeys and Bisoke hike safari, along with a briefing about the tour. We will then transfer to Kigali for a city tour.

In addition to visiting Kigali genocide memorial center, national museum, Kimironko market, and craft markets, you will also be able to visit other important sights.

In the afternoon you will be treated to a buffet in one of the hotels and afterward you will begin your journey to Volcanoes National Park. Upon arrival you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park

After an early breakfast on the second day of the 5 days Rwanda gorillas, golden monkeys and Bisoke hike safari, you will be met by your driver guide at the park headquarters where you will be briefed on the rules and regulations for trekking gorillas.

After the briefing, you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek with a park guide who is familiar with the jungle trails.

Depending on where the gorillas slept the previous night, gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park may take up to 7 hours. In addition to seeing various bird species, other primates, and plants, you will also have great views of other wildlife.

Once the mountain gorillas are found, you will have the opportunity to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat, allowing you to gain a better understanding of their behavior. As they carry out their daily activities like breastfeeding, feeding, resting, playing, grooming their young ones, you may take photos and capture these moments with a flashless camera to share them with your family and friends.

Upon returning to the park headquarters, you will receive a certificate recognizing your participation in gorilla trekking, meet up with your driver guide and return to the lodge for an evening of relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 3: Golden monkey trekking and cultural tour

On the third day of the 5 days Rwanda gorillas, golden monkeys, and Bisoke hike safari, you will have a breakfast at the lodge and then be picked up by your driver guide for the drive to the park headquarters for an orientation on golden monkey trekking.

The Golden Monkey Family will be assigned to you after the briefing, along with a park guide who will accompany you during the trek.

In search of food, golden monkeys are known to move from one location to another in search of food, so golden monkey trekking can last from 30 minutes to three hours depending on where the monkeys are located.

As you trek, you will follow left over bamboo shoots and leaves, and when they are found, you will observe their habits, behaviors, watch them jump from one tree to another, and capture the incredible moments.

After your encounter with the golden monkeys, you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will meet your driver guide and travel back to the lodge for lunch.

During the cultural tour after lunch, you will have the opportunity to visit the Ibyi’wacu cultural village, which is located close to the Volcanoes National Park.

A cultural tour provides the opportunity to interact with the locals so you will gain a deeper understanding of their culture, traditional lifestyle, how to make local crafts and brew from bananas, listening to ancient stories, visiting the traditional healer, tasting their local dishes, and enjoying traditional songs and dramas, among others, which will provide you with a memorable experience.

Day 4: Climbing mount Bisoke

After an early breakfast on the fourth day of your 5 day Rwanda gorillas, golden monkeys, and Bisoke hike safari, you will meet with your driver guide for a briefing about hiking Mount Bisoke.

After the briefing, you will be assigned an experienced park guide who knows the mountain well and you will begin trekking, which takes approximately six hours, including the time spent descending to the starting point.

At a height of 3711 meters above sea level, Mount Bisoke is a dormant volcano. While hiking, you will see a variety of vegetation types, including alpine, bamboo, and hypercom forests, where you will have spectacular views of forest elephants, primates such as golden monkeys, gorillas, birds, and so forth. The summit offers spectacular views of the Crater Lake and Virunga mountain ranges, and you can take some incredible photos before having a picnic lunch.

As soon as lunch is over you will begin your descent to the starting point, where you will meet your driver guide and transfer to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Departure to Kigali

After arriving in Kigali City, our company representative will greet you and transfer you to Kigali city where you will embark on a city tour visiting Kimironko market and the Gisozi genocide memorial site.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking – Volcanoes National Park

Upon completion of the briefing, you will begin your gorilla trekking journey accompanied by one of the ranger guides in search of mountain gorillas. The trek will take between two and eight hours, depending on the movement of the gorillas.

Day 1: Pickup in Kigali and Transfer to Nyungwe National Park.

Our guide will pick you up from Kigali’s international airport on Day 1 of the Nyungwe Chimpanzee Trekking Safari. After a brief meet and greet session, you will embark on a tour of Kigali city where you will visit cultural and historical sites such as the Kigali Genocide Memorial, the Umusambi Crane Village, and the Camp Kigali Memorial Center.

Upon completion of your tour of Kigali City, enjoy lunch and make your way to Akagera National Park.

The distance between Nyungwe Forest National Park and your home is 268 kilometers. It takes about four to six hours for this journey to be completed, which takes you through Rwanda’s beautiful and terraced rolling hills.

Upon your arrival in the park, Check into your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking & Visit Gisakura Tea Estate.

After breakfast, proceed to the park’s headquarters in Uwinka, where you will be briefed by the park’s head ranger and divided into trekking groups of 8 members each.

Chimpanzee Trekking

A chimpanzee trekking experience in Nyungwe forest national park begins at exactly 8 a.m., so make sure to arrive at the Uwinka center by 7 a.m.

Tracking chimps in the forest may also provide the opportunity to observe other monkey species, such as the black and white colobus monkey, the red-tailed monkey, the golden monkey, etc.

Once you have completed your chimp trekking activity, you will have your packed lunch. Alternatively, you can drive back to your lodge for lunch and rest for a while.

After dinner, you may wish to visit the Gisakura Tea estate. During this experience, you will be guided through the process of growing, harvesting, processing, and packaging tea. You will even get to taste the delicious taste of the final product.

Return back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Canopy Walkway & Transfer back to Kigali.

Get up early in the morning, eat breakfast, and head back to the park’s headquarters at Uwinka Centre. From here, you will begin your hike along the Canopy Walkway.

This canopy walkway is 90 meters in length and 50 meters in height. During your journey through the canopy walkways, you will be able to see the forest from a bird’s eye view, and you will also experience an adrenalin rush through your spine as you traverse the 200m length of the walkways in the forest canopy.

The canopy walkway bridge is an excellent place to take photographs and observe the wildlife of the forest, such as Black and White colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, chimpanzees, and even different kinds of bird species that inhabit Nyungwe’s canopy walkway.

Later drive back to your lodge for lunch.

The guide/driver will drive you back to Kigali city where you can be dropped off at any hotel of your choice in the city, or at Kigali airport depending on your departure time.

Day 1: Kigali City tour

This whole experience will take about 4 to 5 hours. You will finish just in time for lunch time, you will have lunch rest for a while before you head out to experience the forest on a canopy walk..

You will go for a canopy walk in the forest, which will last for about two hours and after that you will head back to your accommodation for dinner and a night rest.

Day 4: Drive to Volcanoes National Park

You will be up early have breakfast and then head north to Volcanoes National Park where you will reach in the afternoon, check into your accommodation and spend the rest of the day in leisure.

Day 5: Mountain gorilla trekking and Departure

You will be up early have breakfast and after breakfast you will head to the park for a mountain gorilla trek brief. After the brief you will enter the forest for the trekking experience. You spend about 5 to 6 hours in the forest and after you will exit to head back to your accommodation.

You will have a late lunch at your accommodation and then after head to Kigali town. You will arrive in Kigali in the evening. The tour guide will drop you at a location of your choice.

After you have arrived at Kigali International Airport, you will be picked up by a guide from Explore Rwanda Tours who will introduce himself to you. Your guide will then drive you from the airport to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, which is located about 30 minutes away from the airport.

Following the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi people of Rwanda, approximately 250,000 Rwandans were buried at the genocide memorial grounds.

During the genocide in Kigali, the Kigali Genocide Memorial served as both an educational and a reminder center.

Furthermore, it is an initiative that spreads the message of love and peace irrespective of ethnicity. Other interesting places that you can visit during your city tour include; Camp Kigali, Nyamirambo Women’s Center, Caplaki Craft Village and also Kimironko market to mention but a few.

The transfer to Ruhengeri takes approximately one to two hours from Kigali Genocide Memorial. You will have lunch in Kigali before visiting Volcanoes National Park in Ruhengeri, approximately an hour drive away. Check into your lodge for dinner and accommodation.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park & Drive back to Kigali.

During your visit to the Park’s office, you will be briefed by the park’s head ranger regarding the park’s rules and regulations, including gorilla tracking regulations.

Following this briefing, the head ranger will place you in groups according to which gorilla family group you prefer to track. A Mountain Gorilla belongs to one of the seven habituated family groups, so they are quite tolerant of humans. It could take about 1- 8 hours to track a gorilla group depending on how easily they are located. Upon finding a gorilla group, you will be allowed an hour with the animals. After your gorilla trekking experience, you can enjoy your packed lunch.

Today marks the last day of your 2 days Rwanda Gorilla Trekking safari with us! After breakfast, you can check out of your hotel at your leisure and then have a leisurely morning.

On the morning game drives, you will also get to see the sun rise as the park begins to come to life as wild animals flock to the feeding grounds as the park begins to come to life. Day 3: Cultural encounters and departure
