6 days Uganda wildlife safari : In this adventure, you will be taken to one of the three national parks in Uganda known as Murchison falls National Park. The Murchison falls National Park will allow you to see animals such as elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, giraffes, hippos, waterbucks, bushbucks, Uganda Kobs, hyenas, and crocodiles during a game drive and boat cruise as well as different species of birds such as the prehistoric shoebill stork among others.

During the safari, you will also receive the opportunity to stop at Kibale forest national park as well as Bwindi impenetrable national park where you will be able to spend an hour with endangered chimpanzees and mountain gorillas in their natural habitat.

Day 1: Pick up and drive to Murchison Falls National Park with Rhino tracking

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Pick up and drive to Murchison falls national park,

Depending on the time at Entebbe airport when you arrive for your 6 day Uganda wildlife safari on the first day, you will be greeted by our driver guide whom will give you a briefing about the safari after which you will commence your journey to Murchison Falls national park based on your arrival time.

The journey takes about 5 to 6 hours’ drive and on the way you will have en-route lunch in Masindi town. We will then proceed on to Murchison falls national park where we will drive directly to the top of the falls, from where we will be able to see waterfalls, scenery, and animals among others. Upon arrival in the park, we will have an opportunity to experience breath-taking scenery, wildlife, and waterfalls. From the top of the falls, you will drive to the lodge for dinner and stay overnight.

Day 2: Morning game drive and boat cruise to the bottom of the falls

In the morning of the second day of your Uganda safari, your driver guide will pick you up from your lodge after an early breakfast so that you can proceed to the game drive where you are going to see animals like buffaloes, elephants, waterbucks, warthogs, giraffes, Uganda kobs that are grazing on the savannah plains with due respect. In addition to seeing predators such as hyenas, lions, leopards, etc., you can also view different kinds of birds, as well. After the game drive you will drive back to the lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, you will be treated to an exciting boat cruise where you will take a journey to the bottom of the falls, starting at the Paraa jetty landing site and taking approximately two hours. During the boat cruise you will be able to view large concentrations of hippos and crocodiles in water, view animals like elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, antelopes along the water banks, view water bird species like fish eagle, kingfishers, cormorants among others. After the boat cruise you will return back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: drive to Kibale national park

After breakfast on the third day of the 6 days Uganda wildlife safari, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kibale national park in western Uganda. There is a 6- to 7-hour drive from Kigali to Umuganda. During the trip, you will have en-route lunch and have the opportunity to observe spectacular views of the traditional homesteads and local people, beautiful scenery, the view of the Rwenzori mountains, crater lakes, tea plantations, among others. Upon arrival in the park you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park

After an early morning breakfast on the fourth day of your six-day Uganda wildlife safari, you will check out of the lodge and meet your driver guide for a short transfer to the park headquarters so you can be briefed about the chimpanzee trekking trip.

After the briefing you will be grouped into 6 people, allocated a chimpanzee family to trek and a park guide who will lead you into the forest during trekking. Chimpanzee trekking is an interesting activity that starts at 8:00am and takes about 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on where the chimpanzees are located because they like to move from one place to another in search of food especially during the dry season.

During trekking you will be able to see other primates like red tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, grey cheeked mangabey, vervet monkeys, view some bird species, mammals, plants species among others. Once the chimpanzees are found you will be able spend one hour with them in their natural habitat which gives you an opportunity to learn about their behaviors, habits, watch them feed, play, fight, hunt, mate, take photos and record the moments.

After one hour with the chimpanzees, you will trek to the park headquarters, where you will meet your driver guide and begin your trip to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southern Uganda. On the way you will have en-route lunch and then continue the journey to Bwindi impenetrable national park which harbours half of the world’s mountain gorilla population. Upon arrival you will continue to check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast on the fifth day of your 6 days Uganda wildlife safari, you will carry a packed lunch and meet your driver guide for a briefing about gorilla trekking rules and regulations at the park headquarters. After the briefing you will be grouped into 8 people, allocated a habituated gorilla family to trek and a park guide who is knowledgeable about the mountain gorillas and also conversant with trails in the jungle. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park starts at around 8:00am and takes about 30 minutes to 6 hours depending on where the gorillas slept the previous night. During trekking you will have views of bird species, other primates like chimpanzees, l’hoest monkeys, red tailed monkeys, different plant and tree species among others. Once the mountain gorillas are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their environment where you will be able to watch them feed, breastfeed, groom young ones, play, observe their behaviours, take photos and record the breath-taking moments.

After the face-to-face encounter with the mountain gorillas, you will trek back to the starting point where you will receive a certificate for participating in gorilla trekking, and you will meet up with your driver guide to go for an optional cultural tour where you will be able to interact with the batwa people who used to reside in Bwindi Forest before it was gazetted as a national park. You will be able to experience their traditional performances, learn about their culture, their history, visit their homesteads, and much more. After the cultural tour, you will return back to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Departure to Kampala

After a relaxed breakfast on the last day of the 6 days Uganda wildlife safari, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kampala. On the way you will have great views of the Kigezi hills, terraced farmlands, traditional homesteads and en-route lunch in Mbarara town. On your way back to Kampala, you will have a stopover in Kayabwe at the Equator, where you have the opportunity to take photos and purchase souvenirs before continuing on to Kampala. Upon arrival in Kampala your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe international airport for your departure flight or drop off at any place of convenience.
