5 Days Rwanda Gorillas, Golden monkeys & Bisoke hike safari : In this Rwanda safari, you will have the opportunity to explore the Volcanoes National Park located in Rwanda’s northwestern part. On the safari, you will be able to engage in activities including gorilla trekking and golden monkey trekking, which allows you to interact with the primates in their natural environment, a cultural tour involving the local population and climbing the Mount Bisoke volcano, which rises at an altitude of 3711 meters above sea level and is a dormant volcano.

Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Volcanoes national park,
Depending on your location, our driver guide will greet you on the first day of the 5 day Rwanda gorillas, golden monkeys and Bisoke hike safari, along with a briefing about the tour. We will then transfer to Kigali for a city tour.
In addition to visiting Kigali genocide memorial center, national museum, Kimironko market, and craft markets, you will also be able to visit other important sights.
In the afternoon you will be treated to a buffet in one of the hotels and afterward you will begin your journey to Volcanoes National Park. Upon arrival you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park
After an early breakfast on the second day of the 5 days Rwanda gorillas, golden monkeys and Bisoke hike safari, you will be met by your driver guide at the park headquarters where you will be briefed on the rules and regulations for trekking gorillas.
After the briefing, you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek with a park guide who is familiar with the jungle trails.
Depending on where the gorillas slept the previous night, gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park may take up to 7 hours. In addition to seeing various bird species, other primates, and plants, you will also have great views of other wildlife.
Once the mountain gorillas are found, you will have the opportunity to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat, allowing you to gain a better understanding of their behavior. As they carry out their daily activities like breastfeeding, feeding, resting, playing, grooming their young ones, you may take photos and capture these moments with a flashless camera to share them with your family and friends.
Upon returning to the park headquarters, you will receive a certificate recognizing your participation in gorilla trekking, meet up with your driver guide and return to the lodge for an evening of relaxation, dinner, and overnight.
Day 3: Golden monkey trekking and cultural tour

Golden monkey
On the third day of the 5 days Rwanda gorillas, golden monkeys, and Bisoke hike safari, you will have a breakfast at the lodge and then be picked up by your driver guide for the drive to the park headquarters for an orientation on golden monkey trekking.
The Golden Monkey Family will be assigned to you after the briefing, along with a park guide who will accompany you during the trek.
In search of food, golden monkeys are known to move from one location to another in search of food, so golden monkey trekking can last from 30 minutes to three hours depending on where the monkeys are located.
As you trek, you will follow left over bamboo shoots and leaves, and when they are found, you will observe their habits, behaviors, watch them jump from one tree to another, and capture the incredible moments.
After your encounter with the golden monkeys, you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will meet your driver guide and travel back to the lodge for lunch.
During the cultural tour after lunch, you will have the opportunity to visit the Ibyi’wacu cultural village, which is located close to the Volcanoes National Park.
A cultural tour provides the opportunity to interact with the locals so you will gain a deeper understanding of their culture, traditional lifestyle, how to make local crafts and brew from bananas, listening to ancient stories, visiting the traditional healer, tasting their local dishes, and enjoying traditional songs and dramas, among others, which will provide you with a memorable experience.
Day 4: Climbing mount Bisoke
After an early breakfast on the fourth day of your 5 day Rwanda gorillas, golden monkeys, and Bisoke hike safari, you will meet with your driver guide for a briefing about hiking Mount Bisoke.
After the briefing, you will be assigned an experienced park guide who knows the mountain well and you will begin trekking, which takes approximately six hours, including the time spent descending to the starting point.
At a height of 3711 meters above sea level, Mount Bisoke is a dormant volcano. While hiking, you will see a variety of vegetation types, including alpine, bamboo, and hypercom forests, where you will have spectacular views of forest elephants, primates such as golden monkeys, gorillas, birds, and so forth. The summit offers spectacular views of the Crater Lake and Virunga mountain ranges, and you can take some incredible photos before having a picnic lunch.
As soon as lunch is over you will begin your descent to the starting point, where you will meet your driver guide and transfer to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Departure to Kigali
After a leisurely breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet your driver guide for the transfer to the Kigali international airport or hotel for your departure flight on the last day of your 5 Days Rwanda Gorillas, Golden Monkeys & Bisoke hike safari.
