DETAILED ITINERARY OF 4 DAYS KENYA BIG FIVE SAFARI

Day 1: Nairobi city to Maasai Mara national reserve

 You will be picked up from your hotel in Nairobi by your safari driver-guide to begin your Kenya big five safari in Nairobi on a 4 day safari. Your driver-guide will then give you a short briefing regarding your safari and take you for a short city tour around Nairobi, visiting the National Museum, the Markets, the Snake Park and many more places.

After visiting the city and taking a look around, you will have lunch before going on a drive to the Maasai Mara. As you travel along, you will experience a wonderful panorama unfolding behind you as well as an opportunity to stop at the Great Rift Valley in order to see the magnificent views of the escarpments and take excellent photos.

In addition to driving through Longonot, Suswa, and Narok, you will also stop at Narok for a fuel stop along the way and have the opportunity to experience the Maasai culture while engaging in daily activities of the Maasai people.

Aside from being a popular Kenya safari destination, Maasai Mara is also one of the few reserves in the world where you can spot all of the 5 members of the big five (lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes and rhinoceros) during your game drive.

Arrive at the park in the evening, check into your lodge, and later on that evening you will drive into the reserve for an evening game drive where you will be able to observe predators as lions, cheetahs, hyenas, leopards, and African dogs hunt for their prey under the light of a spot light. After the experience you will head back to your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 2: full day game drive in Maasai Mara national reserve

On the 2nd day of your 4 Days Big 5 Safari, It is today that will be the big day and the highlight of the safari as you will spend the whole day exploring the reserve on a game drive, where you will have the opportunity to watch the five big predators in the wild, which include lions, leopards, rhinos, buffaloes, and elephants.

Other than the big five, you will also be able to see many other animals including warthogs, hyenas, grant’s gazelles, Maasai giraffes, wildebeests, hartebeests, lions, zebras, and many others. You will enjoy a picnic lunch set in one of the picnic spots of the reserve or you will drive back to your lodge for lunch before continuing your exploration of the reserve by taking a second game drive.

Day 3: depart Maasai Mara national reserve to Lake Nakuru national park

Awaken early in the morning and go on a game drive in the rolling savannah plains of the Maasai Mara national reserve. Once you get back to your lodge for breakfast late, you will checkout of your hotel and embark on a journey to Lake Nakuru national park. This park is known for being a birding paradise in Kenya.

As one of Kenya’s premier national parks, Lake Nakuru is famous for its pink flamingos that live on the shores of Lake Nakuru as well as a rhino sanctuary, home to some of the country’s largest populations of black and white rhinos.

When you arrive at the park, you will have lunch after checking into your lodge after you have checked in to your room. A game drive will be conducted later in the afternoon for you to view black and white rhinos, leopards, hippos, zebras, as well as a variety of bird species including large concentrations of greater and lesser flamingos, pelicans and more during your game drive. Dinner and overnight at Ziwa Bush Lodge while on your Kenya Safari 

Day 4: depart Lake Nakuru national park to Nairobi city

On the 4th day of your 4 Days Big 5 Safari, As soon as you’ve had breakfast, checkout of your lodge, and drive back to Nairobi for a drop-off either at your hotel or at the airport when you depart for your flight back home, you can then drive back to your home country.
