Volcanoes national park also called Parc National Des Volcans is the only gorilla destination in Rwanda located in the Northwestern Rwanda, the park consists of steep slopes of spectacular volcanic mountain range in the centre of the Virungas which is a habitat to the endangered Mountain Gorillas.

Day 1: Kigali City tour and transfer to the Volcanoes National park

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport – Kigali City, you will be warmly received by our guide- drive, he will give you a short briefing about the safari and transfer to Kigali city for a city. While in the city, you will enjoy the magnificent of Rwanda, the land of a thousand hills. You will visit the local markets, genocide memorial and the National Museum.

After lunch at one of the restaurants in the city, you will proceed to Volcanoes National Park that is found in Ruhengeri – Musaze districts and is a habitat to over 360 great million gorillas. Arrive in the park in late evening, proceed to checking into your lodge for dinner and overnight as you get ready to go for gorilla trekking the next day.

Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Tracking and transfer back to Kigali

Wake up early for breakfast and continue to the park’s headquarters in Kinigi for briefing about gorilla trekking which is conducted by the park rangers, you will be grouped into 8 people and be assigned a gorilla group to trek.

Then hike through the lush jungle in search for the mountain gorillas, trekkers are advised to have some amount of physical fitness that is required for this activity as it involves climbing a number of hills. Gorilla trekking experience is tedious but very impressive when you come face to face with mountain gorillas, the activity takes about 2-6 hours depending on the gorilla family you are trekking and spend one hour in the presence of the gorillas.

In one hour, you will observe the gorilla family as thy go about their daily routine activities and take good pictures as long as your flashlight is off. Right after trekking, you will return to the park’s headquarters where you will find your driver – guide and transfer back to Kigali for your departure flight back home or to next destination.
